Carlotta comes to CoastOut
Perennial showgirl, cabaret performer and TV star Carlotta will grace the Coffs Coast as a special guest at this year’s CoastOut Welcome Cocktail Party.
The Australian diva began her long and illustrious career as one of the original members of the famous (and infamous) Les Girls showgirl troupe, originating in the seedy hotbed of 1960s Kings Cross. She became the host of the popular Les Girls cabaret show, and was soon its most famous member, known around the globe.
While she was not the first in Australia to undergo gender reassignment, Carlotta’s operation in the early 1970s received much publicity and gave a public face to Australia’s burgeoning transgender community.
Carlotta completed her 26-year run with the Les Girls show in 1992. She forged a successful TV career in the 1990s, with regular spots on Good Morning Australia and Beauty and the Beast.
In recent years, she’s reignited her stage career, performing at Mardi Gras and touring the country with her one-woman Carlotta Live show.
Carlotta will make special appearances at the CoastOut’s Cocktail Party Fundraiser at the Pacific Bay Resort on October 28 and the CoastOut Fair Day at Park Beach Reserve on October 30.
She joins a strong line-up of Australian talent at the festival, including singer Melissa Tkautz, comedian Jackie Loeb, So You Think You Can Dance star Rhys Bobridge, and singer Shauna Jensen.
