C’est magnifique for Tina Arena
First Kylie was handed an OBE by Prince Charles -” now Tina Arena is the second Australian star to be given the international tick of approval, this time by the French.
Arena will be awarded the Ordre National du Merite (Order of Merit), one of France’s highest civil decorations, at a ceremony in February. To be presented in Paris by President Nicolas Sarkozy, the award, usually given to French nationals, recognises the singer’s artistic contributions in France.
Moving to France after a very public divorce in the late ’90s, Arena’s success in the country had already begun with a Marc Anthony duet, Spend my Lifetime Loving You.
info: Tina Arena plays Sydney’s State Theatre on March 5 and 6 and Melbourne’s The Arts Centre on March 27 and 28. Book at Ticketmaster. www.ticketmaster.com.au or 1300 136 166.
