STARTING tonight, Parramatta’s Riverside Theatre will showcase highlights of the 2015 Mardi Gras Film Festival.

The theatre will feature five films over weekend, aiming to expose western Sydney to a wide range of LGBTI-themed films.

Festival director Paul Struthers said the showcase would feature a range of comedy, romance and drama in the screenings from March 27-29.

“[It is] really important people know they can see queer films [at the Riverside Theatre],” he said.

The films in the line up include winner of My Queer Career short film competition BFFs, which co-stars Sigrid Thornton, and the winner of the Mardi Gras Film Festival Audience Award for Best Narrative Feature Boy Meets Girl.

The closing night will be screened in association with The Aurora Group, and will include guest speakers exploring the effects of addiction in the LGBTI community.

Tonight night will showcase short film BFFs, while Saturday features a double-header, with Boy Meets Girl and the musical Waiting in the Wings.

The weekend will conclude on Sunday with documentary Out in the Night and the drama Tiger Orange.
