DAYLESFORD has been selected as the winner of this year’s “The Only GAYTM in the Village” competition.

The Victorian town is also home to the longest-running gay pride festival for a regional area in Australia, ChillOut – which is on this weekend.

While six GAYTMs were unveiled at ANZ branches around Sydney last week in time for Mardi Gras, “The Only GAYTM in the Village” campaign was aimed at communities outside of Sydney.

According to ANZ, the campaign attracted 20,000 votes and six million social media impressions, with strong contenders being Broken Hill in NSW, Brisbane in Queensland, and Devonport in Tasmania.

The GAYTM will stay in Daylesford for two weeks and non-ANZ card fees from the GAYTM will go towards the Victoria Park Hub Redevelopment, a community facility used by clubs and community groups in need of a renovation.

ANZ is a Principal Partner of Sydney’s Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras festival.
