More DJs announced for official Mardi Gras Party

ANTICIPATION for next year’s Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras is growing after two high-profile international DJs were announced for the official parade after party lineup earlier this week.
Joining New York DJ Kim Ann Foxman will be Chicago’s Derrick Carter and French DJ Leomeo, along with a plethora of Australian DJs.
Regarded as an icon and legend of house music among electronic music circles, Derrick Carter’s sets are known to incorporate everything from old-school disco to soul and jazz, promising a kaleidoscope of music that will be boosted by his own seminal tracks.
Meanwhile, Leomeo is emerging as one of the world’s most sought-after DJs. His distinctive and idiosyncratic style of blending progressive, tribal, tech and house style makes him an innovator, and he’s guaranteed to have all the colours of the rainbow covered as he has at events worldwide.
Mardi Gras creative consultant Gary Leeson said the party, to be held after the Parade ends on March 1, will be one to remember.
“We are so excited to have such an amazing roster of Australian and international DJs for the 2014 Mardi Gras Party,” he said.
“Derrick Carter is one of the original house music innovators, and we can’t wait to see what’s in his
record bag for his first-ever Mardi Gras set.” The list of Australian DJs announced for the after
party is already extensive, with more to come. However, a standout is Adam Love, a past Mardi Gras favourite who recently cracked the US Billboard Club Chart with his remix of Jessica Sutta’s Lights Out. Also returning to showcase his passion for house music is DJ Alex Taylor, who has been at the forefront of the Australian dance scene for over a decade. This passion is also shared by Dan Murphy, Australia’s “First Lady of House” Kate Monroe, Kitty Glitter, DJ
Dan Slater, and Sveta. Organisers have said tickets for what is being
dubbed as the “one and only” official Mardi Gras after party have been selling fast since they went on sale last month.
The Mardi Gras Party is a major fundraiser for the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras festival as a whole, which begins with Fair Day on February 9 and ends with the Laneway party on March 2. There are a range of arts, entertainment, forums and parties to attend during the festival weeks.
The official 2014 Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras guide has also hit the streets following a launch event on Tuesday night.
