THE Harbour City Bear’s annual winter festival, Sydney Bear Pride, will commence tonight and organisers promise to be one of the largest bear pride celebrations ever across five days.

The event kicks off with a Meet, Greet ‘n’ Growl event at The Standard (level 3, Kinselas Hotel) tonight, a light‐hearted social get together with a nine‐pin bowling comp with lots of prizes.

Bear  Pride also features two tours, one to discover hidden historical and natural treasures in the Sutherland Shire and the other a tour of the Sydney Conservatorium of Music. In what is a coup for the bears, this is the first public tour of the Conservatorium and includes a private audience during rehearsals.

In addition, no Bear Pride festival would be complete without a healthy offering of food, and this year is no different, with a generous meal on offer at Goni’s Schnitzelria on Thursday night, and spectactular brunch at Cockatoo Island on Sunday.

However, the major event in the five-day festival is the Bear Pit party at the Imperial Hotel. Now in its third year, this party brings together DJs Scott Anderson from Melbourne and DJ Sveta, a Mardi Gras Party icon.

The events are a combination of free and ticketed events. Full details, including ticket prices and bookings, can be found at www.bearpride.com.au.
