Italian stallion comes home

Homesexual takes over Home the Venue on Sunday, March 6 for an epic ocean-themed night of partying, with none other than Italian circuit legend Phil Romano as the headlining DJ.

The DJ, event producer, sometime model and former porn star (under the stage name Filippo Romano) is also a former Australian resident, and told the Star Observer he was looking forward to spending the Mardi Gras weekend back in his adopted home country.

“I never was a Sydney boy — I actually lived in Melbourne for three years with a husband, a dog, and a beautiful home,” he explained.

“But Sydney is one of the places I keep in my heart at all times. You guys are friendly, good-hearted, and fun — what’s to not like? Throw in the fact that Sydney has some of the hottest boys in the world…”

Romano will appear at Homesexual alongside international DJs Paul Goodyear (San Francisco) and Louis T (Kuala Lumpur). The party will be the only Australian show for all three, and they’ll be ably supported by local wonders Dan Murphy, Jayson Forbes, Alex Taylor, Steve Sky, Chip, Justin Scott, Kitty Glitter and Harry K.

Romano offered one piece of advice for clubbers keen to catch his set — wear comfortable shoes and be prepared to dance.

“I‘m not just the DJ at these parties — I’m into the music like everyone else in the crowd. When I mix, I feel the crowd and I do whatever I need to in order to please them. We are all here to have fun, but also to show off, so there will be plenty of time for some skin,” he teased.

Romano’s porn career lasted less than two years. He stopped in 2004, he said, having made enough money to support his family. But in this digital age, even a cursory Google search shows that the evidence of Romano’s short-lived adult career isn’t going anywhere.

The hunky Italian said he didn’t feel dogged by his explicit past.

“Fortunately for me, the porn industry helped open the door for my new career in music. But then the challenge became to show what I was good at — and lots of new doors opened after that.”

He also said he didn’t mind if revellers were lured to Homesexual by the promise of seeing ex-Cazzo and Falcon star Filippo Romano, as opposed to DJ Phil Romano.

“I don’t mind at all, because I look forward to them becoming fans of my musical talent. If it’s my looks or old porn career that grabs their attention initially, who cares?

“I know it will be my music that keeps them coming back for more. That’s what is important to me.”
