Learn the art of burlesque
Want to perform like Dita Von Teese or dance like Australian burlesque stars Rachel St James or Mimi Redlips? Next year a Burlesque Boot Camp will be launched to get you in shape and teach you a move or two.
Producer and agent Jac Bower and premier burlesque showgirl Lola the Vamp will join forces to teach a series of intense workshops and development for professional and emerging performers.
Burlesque Boot Camp will be held over a weekend in either January or February. The course is recognised by the New York School of Burlesque.
“Lola the Vamp and I created this course for performers and serious new performers who want to learn the history, the movements and actual career development,” Bower said.
“There are a lot of people out there offering burlesque courses which really are about dancing in lingerie with a [feather] boa. This course was created to give performers a real-world career course that actually leaves them a stronger, and more educated and prepared performer.
“Anyone who brings into an act the key elements of burlesque, can perform burlesque — no matter what shape, size or sexuality.”
