Loose Ends DJ’s Big Apple bite

Loose Ends DJ Matt Vaughan has returned from a recent visit to New York inspired by the sights and sounds of the city that never sleeps.

So inspired, in fact, that he’s launching a new one-off night called Downtown Underground, influenced by his love of NYC’s nightlife.

“I’ll be turning the Phoenix Bar into a sweaty New York-vibed dance den for the night, with DJ Sveta doing a late guest spot playing her favourite NYC tracks, plus a special tribute performance by the one and only Dallas Dellaforce,” Vaughan told the Star Observer.

The DJ spent six weeks in New York, flitting between soaking up the sounds of the world-class DJs on offer and spending some time behind the decks.

“This was my second time playing in New York and I was lucky to get some repeat gigs at some of my favourite nights.

“I also got to play with some great local DJs like Michael Magnan and Johnny Dynell who is pretty much nightclub royalty in New York, as well as for Michael Stipe from R.E.M. at a magazine launch and in Nicola Formichetti’s pop-up store in Soho.”

Vaughan has returned armed with a swag of ‘classic New York club tracks’ he can’t wait to share with Sydney revellers.

“The underground club scene in New York at the moment is loads of fun, with people pushing new sounds and new looks but also very much tuned into the history of club music the city has produced, which is a history I’ve always been fascinated with,” he said.
