Queer Screen in Byron Bay

Queer cinema lovers in the Northern Rivers area will be treated to a weekend of highlights from the Mardi Gras Film Festival, May 15 -“ 17.

The program of screenings includes festival favourites: Were the World Mine, Patrik, age 1.5 and the lesbian romance I Can’t Think Straight. Screenings on Sunday May 17 are presented in partnership with ACON Northern Rivers in recognition of IDAHO (International Day Against Homophobia).

This is Queer Screen’s third program of GLBT films at Byron Cinemas, which director Lex Lindsay describes as Queer Screen’s favourite home away from home.

There’s a really sophisticated and supportive queer community up north who have responded so well to our programs over the past year. It couldn’t be a greater pleasure to bring more festival highlights to Byron, he said.

It is a really tough part of the job, but I will, of course, be personally delivering the films.
