Ready to make an impression

Although he’s no stranger to the music world, David Guetta’s past albums have gone under the radar in Australia –” but in 2009 he’s ready to make an impression.

Already making a mark, his single, When Love Takes Over featuring Kelly Rowland, peaked at number five on the ARIA singles chart. On his fifth album, One Love, due for release in August, Guetta worked with the likes of Samantha Jade and Estelle.

I really wanted to find a new direction in this album and I needed to find something but at the same time I very much believe in destiny and am open to what life brings me, David Guetta told Sydney Star Observer.

The French DJ and producer has also been injecting his signature electro-pop sound into the music of many international acts. He worked on the Black Eyed Peas song I Got a Feeling, which went straight to the top spot on both the Australian and US music charts.

It was a definite sign and felt so good to work with people that come from such different backgrounds. It was so exciting in making new music and that’s what I wanted to do, Guetta said.

If you listen to I Got a Feeling, it kind of sounds similar to my song Love is Gone. Dance music has been unrated for a long time in America and having all those artists calling me, asking me to produce is such a big honour.

Although the producing side of his talent is taking off, Guetta wants to protect his status as one of the world’s best DJs and is planning a tour of the Australian club scene next year to personally share his beautiful sounds.

Everybody is different. The way I do it is a balance between a very driving dirty beat and something that is much more emotional in the meolody and harmony, he said.

That’s what makes me different from lots of other DJs because many like the minimal stuff and i’m totally maximum, which gives me my signature.
