McKellen to speak at gay marriage rally

Veteran British actor Sir Ian McKellen will address a rally for same-sex marriage rights in Melbourne on Saturday.

The news was posted on the Facebook page of Equal Love co-convenor, Ali Hogg.

Activists are set to take to the streets this Saturday, May 15, calling for equal marriage rights.

The rally will start at 1pm at the State Library and leads up to International Day Against Homophobia on May 17.

McKellen is currently in Australia performing in a production of Samuel Beckett’s Waiting For Godot.

  1. No doubt the owner of the Peel will not be at the Rally as The Age reported he only supports Civil Unions. Tom McFeely is standing for the Liberal Party at the next election.

    I never thought the money I spent at The Peel could go to stopping Gay Marriage.

    I would not of had a problem if Tom had of said, “I am standing for the Liberal Party and going to be a great voice for our community and fight for our rights within the Party.”.

    I wonder what the owner of The Peel will do about adoption and other reforms needed? Will he not support us also?
