Bake-Off finds a new home

The Bobby Goldsmith Foundation this week announced a new venue for its annual Bake-Off event, with the fundraiser to be held at Slide Bar on Sunday, June 19.

“We know that Bake-Off holds a special place in the hearts of many of our community and we hope this year to contemporise Bake-Off and continue to deliver a fun Sunday afternoon event that our supporters will love,” BGF president Martin Walsh said.

With Verushka Darling as MC and performances from singers, drag queens and the El’Circo circus troupe, Walsh said the aim of the move was to “make the event even more accessible to a larger cross-section of our community”.

The BGF Bake-Off comprises a baking competition, auction and drag performances. The baking categories include traditional favourites such as Best Decorated Cake and Best Non-Edible Cake as well as a new category — Best Cupcakes. A $15 donation at the door applies. The event runs from 2-6pm and all proceeds go to programs supporting people with HIV.
