Bears bop back in time

Bears bop back in time

The Harbour City Bears want to take everyone back to a time when there was no financial crisis, banks lent money freely and unemployment was something you only found in a dictionary.

So for one night only the Bears are bringing back the ’80s -” hair and all.

At their usual Den night on Friday 16 January the Bears will be bopping as though in a time warp. DJ Rob will be dusting off all his 12-inch vinyl copies of some of the cheesiest music ever released -” think Stock, Aitken and Waterman, Sabrina and Samantha Fox.

One thing’s for sure -” there won’t be enough gel and mousse in the city to tame all that fur.
So the Bears want you to dig deep into your closet (the one you came out of!), drag out your thin leather ties, darn your leg warmers and boogie on with your best Young Talent Time moves.

info: The Bears Den Night ’80s revival will be held on Friday 16 January at the Flinders from 9pm.

  1. Count me in…

The 80’s were awesome… Remember as Sabrina once said –

“Boys boys boys, I’m lookin’ for a good time”
“Boys boys boys, get ready for my love.”

  2. Well Mister DJ…It looks like you’ll be knocking the boys back with a stick come Friday night…Soak it up sunshine and I’ll sit in the background and giggle as the boys strutt their stuff… Good luck!!! Shame you can’t play Steps, but that would be so last decade..

  3. I saw this DJ play an 80’s night in the UK (Wales) last year and it went off! It was a huge night and everyone loved it. He did such a great job. If it’s anything to go by that night then it’ll be a great night on Friday. I wish there were more nights like that here in Oz as they are always a lot of fun & brings back a lot of fond memories. Oh, and to Kris & Zack, I tried taking the DJ home when he was playing in the UK but he was too absorbed in his music to even notice me but dammit! I ain’t giving up!

  4. Yay I can hardly wait. A return to young fogies and Thatcherist economics. Wasn’t there a massive stockmarket crash in the late 80’s as well?

  5. That is such a great idea, I love the 80’s. We gotta have more nights like that. And like Mike said, we gotta have more DJs looking like that! How HOT is he? GRRRR! Does he do private parties? I’m so there next Friday night but it looks like it’ll be dual to the death with Zack trying to pick up the DJ at the end of the night – LOL.

  6. An 80’s night sounds awesome! It’s just what us bears/cubs need. It’ll make a nice change. There should be more nights like that. Retro rocks. I’ll be there, definitely. Now all I gotta do is try & plot a scheme to take that DJ home at the end of the night – LOL. Can’t wait!

  7. I agree with Brodie. Why can’t more DJs look like that!? YUMMO! Retro is so in at the moment and it’s the perfect time to take advantage of the popularity. I’m looking forward to it!

  8. WOW! He’s cute with a capital Q! I’m definitely going, even if just for the perv factor. It’s great see someone is making the effort & bringing the 80’s back, we don’t have enough of that nostalgia in our pubs/clubs. It’s good that there are DJ’s out there who cater for those who aren’t in the 18-25’s bracket. Great story!
