Doin’ it for the kids

There’s a lot happening in Wollongong in November with some great family and community events to enjoy.

On Friday, November 5 there will be a Doin’ it 4 the Kids fundraiser at Dapto Leagues Club, Bong Bong St, Dapto. Complete with drag shows, auctions and prizes, this event is being organised to raise much needed funds for Camp Goodtime, an annual four-day camp for kids with and/or affected by HIV. The evening kicks off at 7pm, tickets are $20 and bookings can be made by calling Heidi on 0431 591 779.

On Saturday, November 6, come to MacCabe Park in Wollongong and check out VIVA La Gong, the annual cultural event that showcases talented individuals, groups and organisations from around the area. This is always a huge day packed full of great stalls, performances and activities for the whole family. ACON will be there so come down and meet local staff and volunteers while taking advantage of this free event.

That evening the Phoenix Theatre will present The Grand Spiegelhaus, bringing us the best of the last four years of Spiegelhaus cabarets along with plenty of new work.

Working in conjunction with other Viva festivities on this weekend, this cabaret provides an adults only option for those who are looking for something a little wilder after the family fun of the day time festival.

Funds raised will go toward the theatre’s refurbishment and a step closer to its official opening. Doors open at 7:30 for an 8pm (sharp) start. Seats are limited for this once only performance, be sure to reserve your place by emailing [email protected]. Have fun, take care, and play safe.
