JOY 94.9’s annual Radiothon a success

THE organisers of JOY 94.9’s recent Radiothon have said the annual event was another success, reporting a “healthy increase” in donations.

The radio station’s general manager Conrad Brown told the Star Observer that final donation figures were still being determined since the eight-day fundraising marathon ended on June 6, but highlighted the dollar-for-dollar show on the final day as one that raised almost $80,000 in one hour.

“A truly phenomenal result that was only made possible by the generosity of our wonderful patrons Gary Singer and Geoffrey Smith,” he said.

Brown also said the new membership numbers were on par with previous Radiothons, and that anyone who would still like to become a member has until June 30 to still be in the chance for the major prize draw.

“We’re encouraging everyone to still sign up and support the station and make a donation in the lead up to the end of financial year,” he said.

“On July 4, we’ll make the big announcement on who won the six major prizes so there is still more great radio and excitement to come.”

The Radiothon is an annual event held by JOY 94.9 to engage their audience to support the station through donations or becoming a member.
