Twenty10’s biggest fundraising event, Claire’s Kitchen, returns to Slide on Wednesday, April 20 as part of the organisation’s Youth Week celebrations and coinciding with the launch of their new mentoring program.

The event’s hostess Claire de Lune will spend the day with a group of young people from Twenty10, teaching them about cooking and working in a restaurant while they swap stories about their lives. That evening, Claire and her new friends will put on a three-course meal in an elaborate Mad Hatter’s Tea Party-themed dinner.

“This is our 10th Claire’s Kitchen since 2007. Over this time, Claire has mentored more than 40 young people about food and life,” Twenty10 managing director Rebecca Reynolds said.

“I can’t think of a better way to launch our new mentoring program that brings together young people and our community volunteers.”

Items up for auction on the night include a Tina Fiveash photograph titled Twighlight Avenue, and a portrait of Matthew Mitcham by Hihn McRae, titled Equilibrium. The cast of Alice and Alan’s Adventures in Wonderland will provide entertainment, in keeping with the Mad Hatter’s Tea Party theme. Dress-ups are encouraged.

Bookings can be made through Slide at 02 8915 1899 or www.slide.com.au  The $70 ticket price includes three-course meal and entertainment (drinks not included), with Slide donating $10 from every ticket to Twenty10.
