New multicultural resource
Healthy Communities has announced a new online resource in support of newly non-English speaking LGBTI people from culturally diverse backgrounds in Queensland. The RainbowBridge will aim to connect a range of support groups and assist LGBTI migrants and refugees participate more fully in community life.
RainbowBridge will personally consult with persons from multicultural backgrounds and assess their individual needs and tailor resources for them.
Healthy Communities has also reached out to various community partners with specific services that would be ideal for assisting newly arrived LGBTI members.
“Because of differences in cultural understandings around sexuality and gender identities, many LGBT persons from diverse cultures may find challenges in adapting to a different cultural environment.” said LGBT multicultural officer Iaan Subhan.

RainbowBridge website will be launched at Brisbane Pride Festival’s Fair Day on September 16.
