Party for your prostate

Party for your prostate

Nine influential gay Australians, calling themselves Table4Ten, have put their heads together to raise funds for The Prostate Foundation.

On Tuesday 11 November, 35 dinner parties will be held at Sydney’s top restaurants. Guests will be offered a specially designed menu and treated to an exclusive after-party.

The concept began in London in 2001 with the aim of reinvigorating the charity dinner.
Chairman Robbie Robertson said that Table4Ten has broad appeal and allows them to turn a serious health message into a glamorous and fun evening while raising awareness. We wanted to highlight that prostate cancer can affect anyone, he said.

There’s a lot of emphasis in the gay community on HIV but there are so many other things in men’s health that we should be keeping an eye on as well.

According to the chief executive officer of the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia, Andrew Giles, early detection is the key to keeping the deadly disease at bay.

Table4Ten is the perfect opportunity to think about reaching out to the men in your life to get them to talk to their doctor about their health, while raising money to improve prostate cancer treatment, support and cure options, Giles said.

It’s a disease which causes 3000 deaths in Australia each year. Prostate cancer is a major men’s health issue in Australia.
