Pro-gay pastor to speak

Pro-gay pastor to speak

The Reverend Matt Glover will speak at a special Freedom2b meeting titled ‘Preaching in a Gay Bar’ on Friday, June 1.

The former pastor of Lilydale Baptist Church in Victoria has been involved in volunteer work for the LGBTI community for 15 years. His story made headlines across Australia earlier this year after he was asked to step down as leader of his church for publicly supporting marriage equality.

Glover will also lead a workshop for Freedom2b aimed at improving dialogue between the LGBTI community and the church and creating safer spaces for same-sex attracted people of faith.

He believes the experience of working with LGBTI people and his faith have taught him to stand up for what is right, even when it means losing a job.

Glover is one of many Christian leaders who are speaking out for the rights of LGBTI people.

The meeting is at ACON, 414 Elizabeth St, Surry Hills at 7pm.

Freedom2b is an organisation for LGBTI people from Christian backgrounds and their supporters. It provides support to people seeking to reconcile their faith, sexuality and gender identity. All are welcome.
