Fruits on a new level

Fruits on a new level

On Thursday, July 21, Fruits in Suits relocates from the public bar at the Beresford Hotel to the stunning new space, Upstairs Beresford.

“This is what we have been waiting for, and is why we partnered with the Beresford Hotel last year. We knew this space was being turned from a concept into a reality and had to be a part of it,” SGLBA vice-president and Fruits in Suits director Mark Haines (pictured, left) said.

“Located on level one of the Beresford Hotel, this multipurpose space has a striking art-deco style design and with a capacity of 600, is Merivale’s largest event space,” the Beresford’s bookings and functions coordinator Kate Walkom said.

“The venue has a piano-shaped stage, two large balconies, tiered booths and a bar in the main room and a cocktail lounge at the back of the venue.”

“We are delighted to have Fruits in Suits move upstairs to enjoy Merivale’s latest and most exciting venue. The move will lift the monthly event to another level — literally,” Upstairs Beresford manager Jason Ryan said.

Haines was excited when asked about the relaunch and confirmed more than $3000 value of prizes had already been secured. These include an iPad2 from this month’s exclusive sponsor, Sweet Telecom, as well as a fabulous holiday from Out Travel, a Tantalising ticket pack from Points of Difference Events with, among other things, tickets to their MCA rooftop NYE party and a stunning floral fruit arrangement from Flowers by Fruit.

In addition, the annual SGLBA business scholarships will be awarded at the event. Two talented individuals will each receive $1500 from the SGLBA’s Good Works fund.

Looking ahead, the SGLBA is delighted to welcome IDAHO founder Nick Baldas and the KISS Exhibition in October — Fruits in Suits’s 15th birthday. IDAHO (International Day Against Homophobia) recently received $2000 from SGLBA’s Good Works fund which assisted with the staging of the exhibition.

There’s much to celebrate and every reason not to miss every Fruits in Suits event at Upstairs Beresford!
