ChillOut to lower ticket prices

Victoria’s ChillOut Festival is changing ticket prices following negative feedback from this year’s festival.

ChillOut spokesman Paul Kidd said while ticket prices at the gate would increase to $20, tickets pre-purchased online would be cut to $16.30.

“We really got a lot of feedback on ticketing from last year and that there was not a great deal [of incentive] for people to buy their tickets in advance, so we’ve listened to that,” he said.

The Daylesford festival has also announced the Alannah and Madeline Foundation’s eSmart program, which tackles cyber bullying in schools, would be the event’s charity of choice for 2011.

“We think it’s an important issue at the moment, particularly around the bullying of gay and lesbian students in Australia and overseas,” Kidd told the Star Observer.

Wet weather at this year’s ChillOut resulted in low ticket sales and a loss for the festival.

“The people who missed it last year are doubly keen to get back and enjoy ChillOut, so we’re very confident that we’ll be able to make up last year’s loss,” he said.

Tickets for ChillOut go on sale December 15 with line-up announcements to begin in January.
