DILLAN Golightly has been announced as Melbourne Queer Film Festival’s Executive Director, replacing outgoing festival director Lisa Daniel.

Golightly’s newly-created position will hold responsibility for developing and delivering on MQFF’s strategic and annual business plans, with a key focus on revenue generation, business development objectives aimed at securing funding, and building multiple revenue streams for Melbourne’s much-loved queer film event.

MQFF’s Board of Management will soon appoint a Program Manager, who will be responsible for curating the annual festival program.

These positions replace Daniel’s role as festival director, which she held for 16 years.

A graduate of Melbourne University, Golightly spent her early career in communications and project management roles in both Australia and Ireland before returning to Melbourne University for a 12-year tenure in senior management positions within the School of Engineering.

“I’m thrilled to be joining the MQFF team and look forward to supporting the delivery of one of this city’s best cultural events,” Golightly said in a statement.

“With a focus on maintaining quality programming, extending the audience experience and securing organisational growth, I’m excited to work with the LGBTI community and our partners to bring MQFF 2016 to life.”

The outgoing festival director congratulated Golightly on her new role.

“As MQFF enters its next chapter, I couldn’t be happier with the appointment of Dillan Golightly who brings an impressive track record of strategic management and leadership to the festival,” Daniel said.

“As a festival director who held dual artistic and commercial responsibilities, Dillan’s appointment is a giant step forward in securing the future of MQFF.

“I leave knowing that I have left the festival in a more than competent set of hands and I look forward to seeing the kind of festival that results from this new look team.”

Dillan Golightly will commence her role with MQFF on June 9.
