AFTER being a bit vampish in Trevor Ashley’s Little Orphan Trashley, Rhonda Burchmore realised the audience didn’t mind her being a little risqué.
“I had a bottle of Bombay and a cigarette and was absolutely filthy,” Burchmore says, while talking about what was behind her new show Vinyl Viagra.
Like you’ve never seen before, her alter ego Ruda will make her debut performance with leather on lace at the Brisbane Powerhouse before heading to Adelaide and Sydney.
Temperatures will soar as Burchmore whips up frenzy, as an empowering vocal seductress in burly burlesque, while channelling the ballads of Dietrich, Shirley Bassey, Cher, Amphlet, Madonna, Kylie Minoqgue, Beyonce, Katy Perry and Lady Gaga.
Hearts will palpitate as Burchmore welcomes you to her parlour of adventurous and sublime sensuality with cabaret arrangements of I Touch Myself, Don’t Lick My Toes, It’s a Man’s World, Better the Devil You Know, Whatever Lola Wants and I am Woman.
Indulging in a devilish fantasy, the temptress Ruda adorns herself with male dancers, burning up the floor in a bold and brassy night of hard liquor.
In an exclusive chat about how Ruda was born, Burchmore said she enlisted the help of the experts.
“I asked myself how can I possibly go out and do everything from Gaga to Beyoncé to Bette Midler, all those naughty sexy gals?,” she said.
“So I got Dean Bryan to write the piece, and am looking forward to unleashing it at the Brisbane Powerhouse for the first time.
“I have two toy-boys on stage who don’t wear much and who are as sexy as hell. As I get older, I am becoming quite the cougar actually and so I have got the most impossibly gorgeous tall, young Brisbane boys.”
Adding to the cheekiness, she says that that boys’ cheeks will bear a W on each side, to give it a “WoW” factor… Oh, Rhonda.
