Nick Jonas, Jessica Mauboy, Courtney Act, Betty Who and Jake Shears added to Mardi Gras Party line up

AMERICAN singers Nick Jonas and Jake Shears have just been announced as the latest acts to perform live at the official Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras Party on March 7.

Also just announced as part of the line-up for the party, which takes place directly after the iconic Mardi Gras Parade, are Australian singers Jessica Mauboy, Betty Who, and Mardi Gras global ambassador Courtney Act.

Jonas, who has caught the attention of gay media and online publications around the world with his underwear photo shoots lately, is expected to perform his double-platinum hit Jealous from his self-titled album.

Meanwhile Shears, of Scissor Sisters fame, will bring his signature provocative dance moves and eye-catching outfits for his performance, and will be joined on stage by Australia’s first RuPaul’s Drag Race finalist, Courtney Act.

Jessica Mauboy — whose career has been on a steady rise thanks to a bevy of top-10 singles under her belt, a leading role in hit Australian film The Sapphires, and a performance at last year’s Eurovision — will perform at the Mardi Gras Party with drag queen Destiny Haz Arrived. Destiny graces the cover of the official Mardi Gras pocket guide in the rainbow serpent outfit she wore to lead last year’s parade with the First Nation’s Float.

In 2014, she supported Katy Perry on her Australian tour and now emerging Australian singer Betty Who will rock Mardi Gras. Who is best known for her song Somebody Loves You, which featured in a YouTube proposal video that went viral.

These performers will join a stack of international and local DJs that have already been announced for the Mardi Gras Party line up, which include David Morales, Paul Mac, Bent Collective, Wayne G, DJ Grind, DJ Sammy Jo, JD Samson, The Carry Nation, Kitty Glitter and Dan Murphy.

Organisers have indicated there will be another round announcements of DJs and/or performers for the party in the coming weeks.

  1. Not a bad start. Obviously there will need to be a couple of big names added to the list. I am guessing judges from Talent Shows. I am guessing Ricky Martin and /or Jessie J. God forbid that it is Dannii Minogue though that would be so tired.

  2. i really hope this is just the beginning …. went to the party the year kylie performed and the year george micheal performed …. bought tickets this year to go with a big ggroup of friends and even though i love all these performers i will be dissapointed if there isnt one major player at least …

  3. Gettin’ pretty pissed that Cher still hasn’t showed her age-defying, surgery-enhanced face at Mardi Gras… She’s 70 next year.

She’s halfway through her life. Time’s running out!
