Beyoncé sizzles at the Super Bowl

Pop diva Beyoncé has stunned America with a dazzling halftime performance that saw the singer blow audiences away and briefly reunite with her former Destiny’s Child’s bandmates.

Following on from a halftime show at last year’s Super Bowl where Madonna (accompanied by MIA and Nicki Minaj) amazed audiences with an epic medley of her biggest hits, Beyoncé had big shoes to fill.

Appearing on a rising platform in an all-black ensemble complete with heels and plenty of leather, the singer stole the show with a performance that featured fire, ice and plenty of smoke.

Beyoncé proved that she has what it takes to match it with Madonna as she powered through an extended medley of her hits including Love on Top and Crazy in Love.

The singer then surprised audiences when she was joined on stage by her past bandmates Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams as the trio sung two of Destiny’s Child’s biggest hits, Bootylicious and Independent Woman.

Williams and Roland then left the stage, leaving the headline act to perform Halo solo.

The XLVII Super Bowl kicked off with performances from Alicia Keyes – who sung the national anthem – and Jennifer Hudson, who sung America the Brave accompanied by a chorus of children from tragedy-struck Sandy Hook Elementary School.
