Courtney Act goes Gaga in Hollywood

Screen shot 2013-08-15 at 1.24.36 PMOur very own Courtney Act, who recently left Sydney to take on Hollywood, has certainly put herself on the map after an exclusive onstage performance with Lady Gaga as part of the media circus behind the release of Gaga’s new single ‘Applause’.

Star Observer spoke with Shane Jenek, the man behind Courtney Act ,about how the whole experience came about.

“I was doing a photo shoot on Monday when I got the call from the House of Gaga (Gaga’s people) at the request of Lady Gaga herself, asking if I was available to paint my face like the ‘Applause’ single cover and be at Micky’s nightclub in West Hollywood. I rushed home and started to slop white warpaint on my face, then rang them back to confirm that Gaga was going to be there, because to do this I would have had to have turned down my karaoke gig at another club.”

“How could I possibly not turn down my karaoke gig, when the House of Gaga calls, you drop everything!,” Courtney said. “And the rest is history”.

But this is not the first time Act has crossed paths with Gaga – they first met on her first tour of Australia when the House of Gaga photographed Courtney dressed only in ‘Caution Tape’ and showed it to the monster mother herself. After that, Act was officially asked to perform in Canberra in front of Gaga for her birthday.

Gaga then made a special appearance at one of Courtney’s Sydney gigs ‘Disgraceland’ at club Nevermind on Oxford Street.

Screen shot 2013-08-15 at 1.43.11 PM“She was walking up the back entrance stairs at Nevermind to the sound of thousands of people in the street, when she got to the top  Gaga said ‘Hey Courtney!’ She is the most natural, sweet, lovely and down-to-earth person you would ever meet. When in her presence it’s easy to forget that she is one of the biggest pop stars in the world”.

It’s been a big few weeks for Act – in the last month alone Courtney has shared the stage with Cher at Club Rasputian in West Hollywood promoting her latest single ‘Woman’s World’, as well has hanging out with the likes of Rupaul, Adam Lambert, Kelly Osborn and Perez Hilton at Fergie’s baby shower. Act had the honour of performing a cover of ‘Let’s hear it for the boys’ at the eventt.

“Fergie is having a baby boy, hence the song choice,” Act pointed out.

Fear not Australian fans – Courtney is set to be coming back to Australia soon with club shows around the country, and she will be bringing her new show ‘Boys Like Me’ to Sydney after its success in New York and LA at Gingers (formally the Supper Club), upstairs at Sydney’s Oxford Hotel.
