LGV when HIV positive

LGV when HIV positive

Lymphogranuloma venereum (LGV) is a particularly aggressive form of the chlamydia bacteria. It has been relatively rare in NSW but there have been several cases reported in Sydney over the past year.

There are things you can do to protect yourself and your sexual partners, such as;

* Always wear a condom when having anal sex with casual partners;

* Consider using latex gloves for arse play and fisting;

* If you are told you may have been in contact with someone with LGV, go to your GP or local Sexual Health Clinic and get tested and treated.

* It is strongly recommended that you don’t have sex until you have got the all-clear from your doctor, as you may infect others or get re-infected while on treatment.
