Deleted Scenes From the Cutting Room Floor – Caro Emerald

This, Dutch jazz-pop chanteuse Caro Emerald’s debut album, set a chart record in her home country last year by lodging itself at number one for a mammoth 30 weeks. While that sort of success seems unlikely elsewhere in the world, Deleted Scenes should find a niche for lovers of retro-styled female pop in the style of Amy Winehouse and Duffy. Emerald’s got a little bit more swing to her step than those two artists, though, and she knows her way around an addictive hook — just try getting single Back It Up out of your head after you’ve given it a couple of spins.
