A short film that is currently been considered for the 2014 Mardi Gras Film Festival will take a cheeky look at the social stereotype that all gay Asian men are submissive, feminine, and passive. Inspired by the director Hieu Tran’s own person experiences, ‘Squared’ focuses on the sometimes awkward mating ritual performed by many gay men who let effeminate personality traits predetermine a guys orientation.

“With Squared, I want to show that not all Asians fit into the stereotypes that society has constructed,” the director says.
