2011 Brit Award Nominations

2011 Brit Award Nominations

Nominees for the 2011 Brit Awards have just been announced and its a fairly predictable mix of old and new faces.

Often referred to as the British Grammys, the Brits pay tribute to the best music produced by UK artists.

So you have critically acclaimed acts like Plan B, Ellie Goulding and Tinie Tempah represented as well as more commercial pop stars like Cheryl Cole and X Factor winner Matt Cardle.

The line up for British album of the year is particularly diverse with rappers Plan B and Tinie Tempah taking on folk band Mumford & Sons, alt-pop act The xx and ageing boyband Take That.

Good luck picking a winner.

The international categories are more predictable with multiple Brit award winner Kylie Minogue taking on fellow pop superstars Rihanna, Katy Perry, Alicia Keys and Robyn.

Meanwhile David Guetta is pitted against Cee Lo Green, Bruce Springsteen, Eminem and Kanye West for best international male.

And the nominees for best international album?

Arcade Fire does battle with Kings Of Leon, Cee Lo Green, Eminem and Katy Perry.

Aphrodite was robbed!

There’s no word yet if Kylie will sing at the ceremony but the Brits have been home to some of her most iconic performances, so keep your fingers crossed.

Perhaps she can team up with Justin Timberlake for another duet – remember their first try (below)?
