MORE than 26 million people across the world have turned their Facebook profiles into visible statements of LGBTI pride and support using the social network’s rainbow filter, implemented following the legalisation of marriage equality across the United States.

So far the photos received more than half a billion likes and comments, and the momentum shows no sign of slowing down.

Among the millions were a number of familiar faces, with stars like Leonardo DiCaprio, Elizabeth Banks, and Arnold Schwarzenegger turning their profiles rainbow.

Australian celebs who shared their support for the Australian cause include: Danielle Cormack, Delta Goodrem, Jennifer Hawkins, David Campbell, Dannii Minogue, Fitzy and Wippa, Jesinta Campbell, Daniel Macpherson, Lynne McGranger, Keiynan Lonsdale, Charlotte Best, Amber Lawrence, Beau Ryan and Lisa Wilkinson.
