Drag dance makeover for Sporty Spice
Given that Sporty Spice Melanie C – aka Talented Spice – scored the two biggest hits of her solo career with an R&B track (Never Be The Same Again) and a dance floor stomper (I Turn To You), it’s seemed odd that she’s since eschewed those genres in favour of four consecutive solo albums of polite pop-rock.
All that’s about to change though, with the news that Melanie has teamed up with London DJ, producer and drag queen Jodie Harsh for an upcoming three-song EP that will bring her back to the dance floor for the first time in over a decade.
The Night EP, by Jodie Harsh vs Melanie C, will be released digitally via iTunes on May 13. The EP opens with Set You Free, full of ‘hands in the air synths’ and ‘big anthemic vocals’, follows with Sunrise, an ‘Ibiza love story’ of which a 30 second preview clip is already available (see below), and finishes with the dramatic, orchestral hip-hop ballad Walk Away.
