THE winner of the 2014 Eurovision Song Contest has announced she would be releasing her album on May 15.

Conchita Wurst, the bearded drag alter ego of 26-year-old Austrian Tom Neuwirth, made the announcement on Twitter on March 5, encouraging her followers to pre-order her album on iTunes.

During a segment in the SBS broadcast of the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras Parade highlights on Sunday night, Wurst re-confirmed this by saying how she would have loved to be in Australia for the festival but she was busy in the studio recording her debut album.

Her eponymous debut album will feature 14 new tracks, but it will not include Rise Like a Phoenix — Wurst’s winning song at last year’s Eurovision.

Her album’s release date is also slated just days before this year’s Eurovision contest in Vienna, which Wurst will be attending as a green room host to interview acts — including Australia’s representative Guy Sebastian — between performances and during the announcement of the results.

She’s also expected to perform her winning song from last year during the contest.
