Father of the Bride “threequel” gay marriage not true

SOCIAL media and websites worldwide have been abuzz with news of an supposed third instalment of the Father of the Bride movie franchise, which was to have a gay marriage.

First published on Hollywood gossip website NikkiFinke.com, it was alleged that Father of the Bride 3 would focus on a gay wedding, with Steve Martin set to reprise his role as George Banks again.

“The twist in this threequel is that Little Matty (the young brother in the family played by Kieran Culkin) is now 29 and gay and getting married to a Navy SEAL’s son.  Father of the bride George (Steve Martin) is “thunderstruck and speechless” and has problems with the whole gay thing. So wife Nina (Diane Keaton) kicks him out of the house, according to the pitch which Disney loved,” the website reported.

The news spread like wildfire with mastheads and blogs around the world, with The Guardian (see below) and Perez Hilton among those to report it.
