Tom Daley speaks candidly for first time since coming out

BRITISH Olympic diver Tom Daley has spoken with UK newspaper The Sun about his life since he came out.

“Some people come up to me and say, ‘Do you want to go back?’ And I’m like, ‘what do you mean? The whole reason I did this was because I have a boyfriend,” he said to the paper.

 The 19-year-old is currently dating Oscar-winning screenwriter Dustin Lance Black.

Daley also other athletes were “so supportive” when they reacted to his coming out YouTube video in December last year.

He also recalled some of the encounters he had experienced since coming out, which a woman approaching him and saying: “I’d just like to thank you because you inspired my son, when he saw your video it inspired him to tell me he was gay.”

Daley said: “I was like, ‘Oh wow! Oh my God. Tell him I said hi and good job,’ and all that kind of stuff, and she was like, ‘Yeah, but he does have a wife and three children.’ And I was like, ‘Oh s***’.”

The interview also looked at how men now approached Daley “offer(ing) it there and then”.
