Trailer for Caitlyn Jenner’s new documentary series premieres

A ONE-minute trailer for Caitlyn Jenner’s new eight-part documentary series I Am Cait was premiered today by TV channel E!.

Each hour-long episode offers a glimpse into Jenner’s daily life as she adjusts to her “new normal” as a woman.

With her pink robe fastened around her, and having had her hair and makeup professionally done for the first time, Jenner powders her face and applies lip gloss at her vanity while talking to the camera.

“You start learning about the pressure women go through all the time about their appearance,” she says in the clip (see below)

The trailer comes in the wake of Jenner’s historic debut on the July cover of Vanity Fair on Monday, the culmination of a lifetime of struggling with her gender.

“As soon as the Vanity Fair cover comes out, I’m free,” she says in a behind-the-scenes video of her two-day Vanity Fair photoshoot with Annie Leibovitz.

Jenner went public about her trans* status and announced the series during an interview with Diane Sawyer on ABC’s 20/20 in April.

“So many people go through life and just waste their entire life because they never deal with themselves to be who they are,” she said.

Her highly-publicised transition has been met with great support from the public and a slew of high-profile personalities.

Laverne Cox, to whom Jenner credits an inspiration, wrote a blog post reflecting on Jenner’s transition and acknowledged the less-glamorised experiences of trans* people and the need for greater diversity in media representation.

Jenner’s new Twitter account reached one million followers in a record-making four hours.

It was revealed in her Vanity Fair interview that she chose Caitlyn as a candidate for her name over two years ago while watching Miss America pageants.

The decision was solidified when her assistant independently suggested the name.

“Isn’t great that maybe someday you’ll be normal, just blend into society?” Caitlyn, clad in cat-eye sunglasses, muses in the teaser for her docu-series.

“You are normal,” a friend assures her as they drive down Malibu.

“Put it this way,” Jenner responds, “I’m the new normal.”

I Am Cait premieres July 26 and will air in 120 countries around the world.
