Extras needed for STI prevention ad

Extras needed for STI prevention ad

Fancy getting your face on national television for a good cause? Volunteer extras are now being sought to appear in a new television commercial aimed at preventing the spread of Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs), including HIV.

Volunteers would need to donate an hour to appear in a scene that will make up part of the advertisement.

When the commercial is aired, it will be the first STI prevention television campaign (that includes HIV) in Australia since the famous Grim Reaper advertisements in the ‘80s.

Ad producer Walt Collins said rather than scaring people, this time around the advertisements will be more positive.

“This is nothing like the Grim Reaper ad,” Collins said.

“It’s the most amazing feel good commercial which actually promotes gay people as being a brilliant, harmonious and important part of our broader community.

“It’s uplifting, beautiful and will stop Australia in her tracks.”

The scene will be shot at Prahran nightclub Love Machine on Tuesday, February 15 from 10 -11am.

Extras will be required to dance, and be “generally fabulous” during the one-hour shoot.

The shoot is open to anyone over the age of 18 and producers need around 25 extras in total.

The commercial will be launched at the Melbourne Queer Film Festival and will then appear on
national television.

Extras who wish to appear in the commercial for the party scene should call (03) 9016 0012 and leave
their details.

The casting team will then be in contact to confirm details.
