Mrs Sippy
37 Bay Street, Double Bay
This laid back bar is a great place to kick back and chat with friends. While you can easily get their by bus or train from the city, on a sunny weekend nothing beats a ferry trip from Circular Quay. You can soak up the warmer weather in the courtyard bar listening to the resident DJ, or take prime position at a footpath table to watch the rich and beautiful strut their stuff down Double Bay’s glamorous shopping strip. Later in the evening on weekends, Mrs Sippy shifts up a gear, and it can really get very busy. The food menu is great, with a wide range of healthy choices, and some interesting twists on comfort food favourites.
Tilbury Hotel
12 Nicholson Street Woolloomooloo
http://www.tilburyhotel.com.au/
Located near the historic Woolloomooloo finger wharf, the Tilbury is a relaxing oasis, and not your typical Sydney pub. A very gay friendly venue that is just a short walk from trendy Macleay Street in Potts Point, and 5 minutes cab ride from the bright lights of Oxford Street Darlinghurst, it has a long established reputation as a great place to hang out on weekends. You can enjoy a casual cocktail and snack in the courtyard, or settle down for a fine meal in the restaurant. Their upstairs deck bar cranks out Moet Ice Cocktails on Friday evenings, while on Sundays you can kick back with a jug of Pimms and a plate of grilled prawns.
