Reconnect with your inner self

Reconnect with your inner self

Ka Huna Australia has long assisted the GLBT community to reconnect the mind, body and soul by using an ancient Hawaiian craft. The practice aims to provide a safe environment to enable clients to relax, revitalise and reconnect with their inner self.

Company founder Craig Abberfield said his vision is to work with people and his community, sharing the healing benefits of Ka Huna bodywork, energy and shamanic healing.

Ka Huna bodywork is a massage like no other, Abberfield told Sydney Star Observer.

The ancient healing method takes form as a full body oil massage that’s gentle, flowing and very relaxing. It is often described as feeling like waves washing over you.

Not only can Ka Huna be used for relaxation, it can also be done deep tissue to help release tired and sore muscles as well as used for emotional release, helping the client to let go of stuck emotions that hold them back from being the best person they can be. It’s also ideal to aid the treatment of depression, anxiety, exhaustion and even stress.

Ka Huna Australia practitioners are trained to work with clients to deliver a bodywork that meets the needs of the individual with focus on relaxation, a deep tissue session to help ease tired and strained muscles or simply to allow the client to drift off and be pampered.

The Glebe-based practice will often combine the many different styles of treatment to ensure the best result. These treatments include Ka Huna bodywork, hot rocks, shamanic healing sessions, reiki and energy work.

The practitioner uses the forearm and the palm of the hand to massage the body. While Ka Huna is a powerful bodywork treatment it is also a dance, where the practitioner dances around the body using long flowing strokes, sometimes deep and other times soft and gentle, Abberfield said.

The back of the body represents, energetically, the masculine and therefore is very dynamic. The front of the body represents the feminine energy of the body and is soft and nurturing.

Ka Huna is a completely non-sexual massage. The practitioner works on an energetic and physical level to relax, recharge and revitalise the client, bringing a balance of the masculine and feminine into play while working on the physical form.

Ka Huna Australia is gay-owned and operated and offers a holistic approach to healing tailored to the specific needs of the community.
