CURRENT LGBTI rights champion 11-year-old Orlando Burcham, who won over the LGBTI community and beyond in Australia and the world for his letter on marriage equality to Prime Minister Tony Abbott, has spoken of the experience Channel 10’s morning TV show Studio 10.
In his letter to the PM, he wrote it was “pathetic for not allowing the gay people of Australia to marry including his mums.”
When asked by Ita Butrose “why did you write that letter to the Prime Minister?”, Burcham responded by saying: “I wrote it because I believe that everything should be fair in this country and that [same-sex marriage] is one of the things that should be fair.”
Sitting along side his mum and twin sister, in response to being asked what it was like having two mums, Burcham replied: “It’s awesome.”
