Community groups are being invited to apply for $5000 grants from the Aurora Group, following a successful year which has left the organisation with $80,000 to disburse.

Aurora’s major partners, Twenty10 and the Gay and Lesbian Counselling Service, will benefit the most.

Other non-HIV related organisations in need of assistance will not be overlooked with Aurora now inviting submissions for grants.

“I am delighted to invite eligible organisations to apply for up to $5000 for special projects or activities,” Aurora chairperson Alex Sosnov said.

“Twenty10 GLBT Youth Support Group and the Gay and the Lesbian Counselling Service NSW will receive year-end disbursements of a further $14,000 each, thanks to the continued support we receive from generous patrons, sponsors, volunteers and donors.”

Twenty10 co-convenor Jude Page welcomed the donation.

“We’re very pleased obviously. Our ongoing relationship with Aurora is one of our most valuable relationships and it’s wonderful that there is such community support for an organisation like Aurora and that funds can be raised in such a celebratory way.

“The donation is critical to our program and increasing our support for young people when they need it most.”

Previously, Aurora has lent its support to organisations like the Gender Centre, Queer Screen, the Anti-Violence Project and a range of services in regional NSW.
