Mardi Gras party carnival

The 2010 Mardi Gras parade will be followed by a new party, the Parade Carnival, at the Entertainment Quarter.
The party, to be held in the Show Ring, Dome and Forum at Moore Park, will fill the gap left after the organisation earlier this year booked the annual party on a different weekend from the parade, causing the two events to be split for the first time in its 33-year history.
At the time, former Mardi Gras president Richard Cobden claimed this was done to satisfy an agreement with Atlantis Cruises.
David Imrie, the New Mardi Gras chair under whom the decision was made to split the party and parade, resigned from the board in July.
The Parade Carnival on Saturday, February 27 will be free for participants, volunteers and NMG members, but there will also be a significant number of tickets available for general release. For these tickets, priority will be given to friends and family of NMG members.
Tickets will cost $50, with the number available to the general public dependent on uptake by members and volunteers.

  1. Will there be a retro music venue? Last year’s retro space was fantastic- so what will it be this year, & at what party- the Carnival or the Party the week later?
