Sexual assault in sex-on-premises venue
Victoria Police Sexual Crime Squad detectives are calling on the community to come forward with any information they may have about a sexual assault that occurred in a sex-on-premises venue (SOPV) in Melbourne’s CBD last month.
Police say a male victim was held down in a private room and was sexuality assaulted by two men on Sunday night, September 25.
The two men wanted in relation to the assault are believed to have left the premises shortly after the incident.
The first offender has been described as about 178 centimetres tall, aged in his late 20s, cleanshaven, with a muscular build and is thought to speak with a European accent.
The second offender is believed to be aged in his late 20s, with an overweight build, a tanned complexion and also appeared to speak with a European accent.
Victoria Police Gay and Lesbian Advisory Unit Acting Sergeant Electra Wellens urged anyone with information to get in touch with police.
Wellens said police have concerns there may be other victims of sexual assault, which may have occurred in an SOPV, who may feel embarrassed or reluctant to come forward and report the matter to police.
“We would like to reassure the community that police take all matters seriously and are seeking to enhance the safety of the local community but need this assistance,” Wellens said.
“We don’t need to know who you are, just who they are.
“Please remember that when you call Crime Stoppers you can remain anonymous.”

Well, that sure sounds like consenting sex to me. No wonder you’re jumping to that conclusion Hoin.
Apparently it actually needs to be said that people can revoke consent at any time. If this concept is too complex for you, save us all some trauma and stick to your hand, thanks.

I hope this doesn’t become a habit by gay men, running off to the police crying sexual assault every time they have an encounter they don’t like. This sort of mentality has turned dating and casual sex into a minefield in the straight community, the last thing we want is for this type of politically correct crap to spread to the gay community.
This is incredibly alarming. I think there is a high level of ‘trust’ in sex venues and since they generally are quite dark, when you get in a bad situation (has happened twice to me albeit these incidents were ten years apart) it’s quite frightening. I really hope they’re able to catch these two guys before they strike again as sex venues should be a place where men feel safe and comfortable at all times.
