Saturday’s marriage equality rally was the biggest of its kind seen in Australia.

Drawing an estimated 12,000 people, the rally started at Hyde Park North where it heard from a number of speakers including Greens senator Sarah Hanson-Young, Sydney Lord Mayor Clover Moore MP, Sydney Mardi Gras chair Pete Urmson and Ben Cooper from Community Action Against Homophobia.

The rally then trailed down Park St, Pitt St Mall and George St, and on to the Sydney Convention Centre at Darling Harbour, where the Labor Party had only hours beforehand voted to change its party policy in support of same-sex marriage, albeit initially via a conscience vote.

At the convention centre the crowd heard from a string of marriage equality activists including Australian Marriage Equality national convenor Alex Greenwich, PFLAG national president Shelley Argent, and long-time activists Dr Kerryn Phelps and Rodney Croome.

We’ve put together a collection of videos from the day for those who want to relive the moment, and those who were unable to make it.

We’ve also managed to track down this vide from the anti-marriage equality gathering in Martin Place, attended by a few hundred people.
