Over a thousand people have taken part in a colourful demonstration for LGBTI equality in the Philippines’ capital, Manila.

Marchers carried a huge rainbow flag and beat drums as part of the city’s annual Pride Parade on December 3, while calling for legislation to end discrimination based on sexuality and gender identity in employment and access to social services.

The march also saw calls for better funding for HIV testing and support for people living with HIV/AIDS.
The Philippines opposed the first UN declaration on the rights of LGBTI people in 2008 and abstained from voting on a subsequent UN Human Rights Council Resolution in June this year.
