Hearing set for sex worker

A HIV-positive male sex worker accused of deliberately infecting his clients will face a committal hearing on October 8 to decide if he will stand trial.

Adam Randall, 36, fronted the Melbourne Magistrates last week.

He was arrested in May for allegedly offering sexual services, including unprotected sex, from his home in Reservior.

He has been charged with attempting to intentionally infect another person with a serious disease, conduct endangering life and working as a sex worker while infected with a disease between January 2011 and May 23, 2012.

In June, Det Sgt Brett Meadows told a court Randall claimed he would have sex with up to 20 strangers a day at a sauna, but always wore a condom.

Fairfax reported that police told a court at an earlier hearing that officers had received an anonymous tip-off that he was advertising sexual services in the Melbourne Community Voice publication.

Lawyer Amelia Beech told the court she hoped one of the witnesses at the hearing would be Randall’s GP who had spoken with Randall many times about how HIV was transmitted.

Meadows said Randall denied having unprotected sex when questioned at Epping police station.

Randall was released on bail on June 8 and faces strict bail conditions including a Department of Health order for him not to engage in any sex work.
