4-year-old to PM Abbott: “let boys marry boys and girls marry girls”

SABRINA Franco has proven that age is no barrier in Australia’s quest towards marriage equality.

The four-year-old (pictured above), who lives in western Sydney, wrote a letter to Prime Minister Tony Abbott last week urging him to allow same-sex couples to marry.

Sabrina penned the letter, complete on Disney princess paper  (pictured below), after learning about how her mother’s friends Lukas Picton and Greg Stone went to New York, USA, to get married because it wasn’t legal or recognised in Australia.

She also urged Abbott to not make any funding cuts to the ABC.

Letter to Abbott

The letter reads:

“Dear Tony Abbott,

Don’t get rid of the ABC because we love it. And let boys marry boys and girls marry girls if they love each other or they’ll be sad forever.

Thank-you.

Sabrina.”

Picton told the Star Observer he was touched by Sabrina’s gesture and by her understanding of marriage equality at such a young age.

Not only does Sabrina have an excellent grasp of the English language for a four year-old, but she is also incredibly social aware,” he said.

“This letter really shows that prejudice and discrimination are engrained traits that we teach our children and that acceptance and understanding of equal love comes naturally to them.”

The Star Observer contacted the Prime Minister’s office several times since the letter was brought to our attention last Friday, but his response to Sabrina’s letter is yet to be received.

  1. A four year old is not capable of weighing the arguments for and against complex issues. She has not been exposed to alternative ways of thinking and sadly has been manipulated by some adult with a political agenda and has now become a propaganda weapon for activists. Shameful!

  2. I think it is absolutely improper to put it gently, that an adult would conspire to let a four year old seemingly write this type of letter to the Prime Minister. I put it alongside thrusting children to the frontline of a protest demonstration. I find it incalculable how adults would use children for this purpose. It is a gutless , pathetic act of trying to get your point across ,neverminding any recriminations for the child.
