American singer Betsie Larkin has made her name as the go-to guest vocalist for a number of high-profile DJs, including Ferry Corsten and Armin Van Buuren. Now she’s released her debut solo album — with more than a little help from her friends. Each of the 12 tracks here is credited to Larkin alongside a different DJ or producer, which might sound like a haphazard concept, but it makes for a surprisingly cohesive listen. Opener The Dream sets the tone: Larkin’s soaring and uplifting vocals set over strident, but never overpowering, dance beats. The album will be a remixer’s dream, but as it stands, it’s a strong collection of adult dance music for listening to, not just dancing to.
