Positive health campaign launched

Share |

A major sexual health campaign aimed at HIV-positive people was launched this week by PLWHA (NSW), one of the first of its kind for the organisation. The Words To Say It campaign features three brochures and a factsheet detailing issues about sexually transmitted infections (STIs) relating specifically to HIV-positive people.

There was lots of health promotion out there but there was very little that actually spoke directly to positive people -¦ Executive officer of PLWHA Antony Nicholas (pictured) said. There was lots of stuff about STIs but none of it necessarily related back to the impact STIs have when you already have HIV.

The campaign stresses the importance of regular HIV health checks (for viral load figures), regular STI testing and communication and negotiation for all sexually active people. Campaign themes will also be the subject of community forums and discussion groups. For more information on The Words To Say It, contact PLWHA (NSW) on (02) 9361 6011.
